The Big Story: Our Soldiers & The Oil Price Wars  It’s all about energy as gasoline prices continue to rise.  At the White House this morning, the President hosted vets and discussed fighting and pricing, saying “I don’t want our kids to be held hostage to events on the other side of the world.  In America, we control our own destiny…And we will do all of this by harnessing our most inexhaustible resource of all – American ingenuity and imagination.”  Here at the DR Show, supporting innovation to solve problems is something we can get behind!  But with gas prices largely outside of our control, and a Senate that today failed to repeal millions in tax breaks for big oil, we all know that any real change is years away.  We’ll talk to Iraq war vet Terron Sims, a fellow at the Truman National Security Project who was at the White House today and Dan Gross (@grossdm), columnist and economics editor at Yahoo! Finance.

Fight the Power: Bill De Blasio Takes Fight to the SEC As he promised right here last month, New York City Public Advocate Bill De Blasio (@billdeblasio) has taken his fight for transparent corporate spending right to the steps of the SEC, which has the power to force that when it comes to spending by publicly-traded companies.  He got a face-to-face meeting with top SEC officials — we can ask him about how that went, and find out what’s next.  Our Megapanel of Karen Finney (@finneyk), Susan Del Percio (@delpercios) and Jimmy Williams (@jimmyspolitics).

The Specialist: Budget Battle! Congress hasn’t managed to pass a budget by deadline in 14 years — “Seinfeld” was still on television and people were dancing to the “Macarena”! Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget plan is poised to pass the House today – you can check out a breakdown of budget proposals here.  Of course, whether or not it passes the House, it’ll be DOA in the Senate, and we’ll be back to square one. We’ll hear what it’s like on the inside from Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ) who will join us at 30 Rock.

Also on the show today: A website that only sells products “made in America,” they’re launching today, and we’ll tell you all about them… Noah Kass (@noahkass) will be here for another edition of “Kass’ Couch.”  He’s got some “advice on giving advice” that we advise you not to miss.
