Dylan is not afraid to admit it: his favorite show on television is Animal Planet’s River Monsters, hosted by Jeremy Wade. He’s tracks deadly, man eating creatures in fresh water around the world, and takes us along with him.  We asked you for some of your questions for Jeremy on Twitter yesterday — watch the segment, and see if yours was answered!

We also ran a fun photo caption contest on our Facebook page, asking you “Here I am on set with River Monsters host Jeremy Wade. What question did I ask to elicit that reaction?”  Some of the most “Liked” responses and, yes, some of our personal favorites are below…

Some of you went with the fish and food theme.  We can’t blame you there, it’s pretty tempting.  Joshua wanted to know, “McDonald’s Fillet-o-Fish or Wendy’s Fish Fillet?” while Daniel asked “Would you care to sing Row, Row Row Your Boat with me for our audience today?Jim was dying to know, “So, is it really possible to tune a fish?”

Of course, some of you decided to make some analogies to our friends on Wall Street.  Tom is curious, “Have you ever encountered any of the greedy barracudas on Wall Street?” and Maryam asked “Wrestling a river monster or our financial system? Which would you think is easier to tackle?”  (We think we know the answer to that!)

Of course, @RatigansPen got some attention.  Could it be the fuzzy yellow top?  Jeremiah asked “Did I say you could use my fuzzy pen?” while Karoline pointed out the obvious:  “how are people supposed to take you seriously when you’re using a pen with a feather top?”  Bobby thought Dylan might be getting a little protective of Ratigan’s Pen, asking “Could I get my fluffy pen back?”

The Presidential candidates even made it into the caption contest. “Do you think Romney is an environmentalist that cares about rivers and big, scary fish?” asked Nancy, while Kathleen developed a more extended, um, metaphor:  “You’re in a US river with some big fish; there is Mendax Obami, Horrificus Gingrich, Synchophantus Romney, Desperatus Sanctorum, and Non Forte Ronpaulus. If you had one specimen to take back to the Smithsonian as an example of a species that got to big for it’s habitat, which one would it be?”

Anyway, we had a blast (and some laughs) with the caption contest.  With 103 entries, we do have a winner (picked by Random.org.)  Congrats to our #13 responder on Facebook, Daniel Koeker you’re getting a copy of Greedy Bastards!  We’ll run another caption contest soon, so keep your eyes here and on our Facebook page!
