For all the talk about the California drought, and for all the talk about all the issues associated with the warming of the earth, the issue that is still not taken as nearly as seriously as it needs to be is quite simply fresh, reliable access to clean, usable, potable drinking water. People can talk about immigration, they can talk about trading, they can talk about Democrats, they can talk about Republicans, but the elephant in the room that not a single politician is prepared to deal with or for that matter mayor, governor– at any level– is water. And mark my words, if the fate of the earth and the fate of our civilization is at risk today, it’s at risk because our access to fresh, reliable water is much more perilous than any of us want to believe.
