About Dylan.

I was born in Saranac Lake, New York. My early childhood took me to San Francisco before I returned to upstate New York and New York City.

I am the grandchild of European immigrants who arrived with very little and built abundant lives in New York City. Their lives validated my belief in the American Dream.

In 1993, as an exchange student at Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka, I lived with a Japanese family who spoke no English. It was the era before the internet.

In 1994, I worked nights as a parking garage inspector in New York. At the beginning of 1995, I joined Bloomberg's reporter training program as one of its first reporters. I established its mergers and acquisitions coverage, created and hosted Bloomberg Television's flagship morning show, and later became Global Managing Editor for Corporate Finance.

I joined CNBC in 2003. I co-created and became the founding host of Fast Money, one of the most successful financial television shows in US history, opening the conversation among Wall Street traders to the public. I led CNBC's coverage of the financial crisis and became an outspoken critic of the government response. In March 2009, I resigned to question the government directly as host of The Dylan Ratigan Show on MSNBC. It became the network's most-watched daytime show.

After a viral moment protesting government corruption in 2011, I created Get Money Out to fight for a constitutional amendment removing money from politics. Nearly 300,000 people joined the petition in a matter of weeks. I wrote Greedy Bastards about the misaligned incentives behind failures in banking, education, healthcare, politics, trade and energy.

After leaving television, I founded Helical Holdings. For five years, I worked with returning combat veterans from Camp Pendleton, California, to design and build distributed resource hubs capable of producing agriculture, power, clean water and Wi-Fi. The idea was a resilient piece of civilization that could work anywhere. In 2018, I ran for U.S. Congress on an anti-corruption reform platform.

My work has also taken me through industrial development, hospitality, entertainment, biotechnology and luxury fashion. I am President of Reservations.ai and founder and CEO of Euforia Group, which designs, produces and sells Italian-made sneakers, bags and travel accessories. I am Chairman of Samba Biologics, which develops regenerative tissue therapies for heart attack and stroke. I offer advisory services selectively across these fields.

I have traveled through more than 75 countries and lived in four. From Japan, China and Myanmar to Russia, Peru, Bolivia, the Middle East and Europe, travel has shaped how I understand people and institutions. I work today from Milan and New York. That global perspective informs my travel businesses and my commentary on world affairs.

I publish essays on Substack and make short videos and longer conversations about politics, markets, technology and the human spirit. I am developing Human Capital: Capitalism and the Human Spirit, a book about what our economy rewards and what human beings need to live freely.
