United States — Digital News Report 2026
Selected by Dylan Ratigan.
The U.S. country analysis in the Reuters Institute’s 2026 Digital News Report tracks Americans’ news use, trust and platform habits using the report’s large multi-market survey. The U.S. section puts overall trust in news at 25%, down five percentage points from the prior year, and identifies local television and regional newspapers among the most trusted brands.
The report also considers platform and video use, avoidance of news and changing routes into journalism. The broader report includes almost 100,000 online interviews across 48 markets, with the U.S. profile co-authored by Joy Jenkins and Lucas Graves.
